Summer a wonderful time of year, not only because the weather allows for some fun in the sun, but also because of the abundance fresh, seasonable fruit available.
We’ve all been guilty of getting excited and buying lots of fruit, but then what happens? It goes to waste before we can enjoy it.
Here are some quick tips on how to keep enjoying that fresh fruit beyond its season. Let’s save the strawberries!
After rinsing the fruit, take a pairing knife and pierce the top, in a circle, almost creating a small cone. The core will come out, and you will place each strawberry on a baking sheet, evenly-spaced.
Place them in the freezer for at least 4 hours or overnight. You can then store them in freezer bags until you need them.
These frozen strawberries are great for smoothies, salsas, salads or a light snack.
There’s not need to waste food or money because with a little bit of time and patience, you can enjoy these gems for months to come!
